UPDATE 9/8 : Everything under the :new: border has just been added!

Welcome to the FAQ! Questions will be added as they are asked.

Q:How many slots for each opening?
A: Roughly 33. Depends on how many applications we get~

Q:How active do we need to be?
A: We are planning on having a mandatory event every two months. Other than that, it's up to you and your team~

Q: It says we need a team to join - can I join alone?
A: Yes,  but sooner or later you might have to join a team as the story progresses - unless you're an absolute genius at comic making, it might be a bit tough to weave a story with only one character to move and interact with.

Q: Can my team just be 2 people?
A: Yup.

Q: Can my team be more than 3 people?
A: Nope, at least not initially.

Q:Can I have my character be of (insert nationality here)?
A: Any nationality you like. Because of military influences, the island is very multicultural.

Q:So...where is this story headed?
A: Occasional major events will be posted in the blogs which will help move the story along. Anything in-between is up to you and your team.

Q:What are you looking for in an application?
A: Mainly the qualities and depth of your character~ But for now it's pretty loose, characters tend to develop and mature over the course of stories so don't worry about this!

:new:

Q:How did the outbreak take place?
A: There was a violent explosion of the ZETA military base - after it, a mysterious illness started to spread.  1) Zeta is known for its bioweapon manufacture. 2) There is a strange sickness going on after the explosion. The public put two and two together, and that is all they know. But isn't the virus spread through direct physical contact? They wouldn't survive such an explosion would they?
Yes, they wouldn't. But security isn't always air tight, it only takes a few people to spread it around - the blast radius was quite large so the spores flew pretty wide.

Q: And considering the fatality rate was so high, who are the people still living now? Primary contraction victims? But if, how did they get around contracting the virus in the first place?
A: People who get the virus from the source ( the original explosion) survived with mild flu symptoms. People who caught it from those people died at a 99% fatality rate, the remaining 1% being the alpha/omega strains. The government/military was relatively quick in their quarantine because they knew that a viroid had been released, thus no total infection of the island and successful separation of the two groups.

Q:For the powers in Beta mode, how do they work? Some are vague, like with luck, morale and defense...
A:
Luck:
It really is as the name implies - a lot of luck, i.e. increase of good chances.
Sooo....hm, let's say someone is shooting at your character. Someone without luck might be hit a few times, when someone with luck only once or twice, or maybe even not at all. As long as it doesn't go to the point of godmodding as far as rps go, people with the luck trait can sometimes avoid situations that others cannot. They are also capable of making their opponents "unlucky", decreasing their chances of a good outcome. Most of these things don't come directly from the user. (Ex: A cat is startled by a door opening, and happens to run out into the street - a truck swerves to miss the cat and runs into a pile of wood, which in turn crumbles down and squashes your enemy....things like that.)
God-modding is more or less prevented as you and your team will be the regulators within your comics, I'm just kind of trusting the members with that (it's kind of hard to godmod yourself anyway, if that makes sense - I'm hoping team mates will help deter that when you discuss plots and whatnot). JUST...a lot of common sense involved, hopefully. ;;

Morale - basically amplifies the abilities of your team mates without the negative effects of increased power ( so if it's boosted 2x, they don't recieve 2x damage, only the equivalent of the usual damage taken). You can say that they are really a team player and not really suited for individuals. That's really the base of it, if you have any ideas that further relate to this criteria you are welcome to make them up.

Defense - Their damage causing abilities are not improved, but their capability of withstanding damage does. One type of defense mechanism might be quick regeneration - the term "defense" is just a simple way to group all of the possibilites together in a loose bundle. So yes, in a way they would be able to use their defense to ram into hard substances and whatnot. It differs from the offense in that their strength is not necessarily higher, but they definitely have greater stamina ( Hmmm an example would beee...a defense type runs into a steel wall 6x to break it open with little physical damage. An offense type would be able to bust through it in a single blow, but will have higher damage upon him/herself. ).

Q: How do Alphas transform for the first time?
A: It differs on an individual basis. I would like to say when their consciousness is least active ( sleeping, drunk, tired, things like that), but that's a mere suggestion.

Q: Are there specific circumstances in which you would get infected, initially?
A: Please look at "How did the outbreak take place?".

Q: How would you get second hand infected?
A: The virus is present in all bodily fluids and live skin cells. The virus is only capalbe of living for two or three seconds before dying if separated from the host- this information will probably be available to your characters, as the government frequently makes announcements on how to prevent infection (kind of like when that H1N1 pandemic struck, it was plastered all over the walls on posters and federal commercials etc.).

Q: Why didn't all of the hospital staff die?
A: Many of the medical facilities have a tight professional relationship with the ZETA facility. The island's hospitals would have been the first to know about a potential outbreak of the virus -  fatalities were not zero, but many were prevented through precautions and practice methods suggested by ZETA.

Q: What in blaze's name are PC and UI?!
PC: People deemed infected.
UI: People deemed uninfected.

They are just two groups that the military has made up. All of your characters are infected even if you are in the uninfected group, NO ESCAPE. //cackle
Furthermore any alpha/beta strain that is revealed to the officials will be spirited away~...who knows what they do in those laboratories.
